The injection is delivered into the muscle. It is guided by sensation or imaging to accurately pinpoint the tightened area. Patients can experience immediate relief from pain with the local anesthetic and longer relief when the steroid begins working within a few days. Several injections may be needed, depending on the specific type of myofascial pain.
